We know that Sauna Tent is something new. It is not a classic wooden sauna - and that is why it is extra important that certain issues are taken seriously. Right from the start we asked ourselves a basic question: What happens to our materials when they get really warm?
For us, sauna is about security. When you sit there, sweat and breathe deeply, you should be able to trust that the materials around you do not release anything harmful. That's why we chose not to guess - but to test. Really.
What is Rise?
RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) is an independent, state research institute working on testing, developing and ensuring products safety and sustainability. They are a leader in Sweden in technical testing and are used by everything from industrial companies to authorities.
When we wanted to find out exactly how our Sauna Tent Affected by heat, there was no better place to turn to than RISE. Together with them, we have also gone through what applies to CE certification and security requirements for Sauna Tent - That are not fixed fireplaces or constructions intended for major events.
So the test went to
The test was performed in RISE's facility in Borås. The materials from one of our Sauna Tent was heated in a climate chamber to 110 ° C - a temperature far above what the tent is normally exposed to, as walls and windows in practice are cooled down from the outside during batting.
What makes the test particularly demanding is that it was carried out in a completely closed chamber - without any ventilation at all. All substances released from the material remained in the small air volume. It is a laboratory environment designed to push the materials to the utmost - but it cannot be compared to the real sauna environment.
Ours Sauna Tent Has active ventilation: both supply air and exhaust air, a door that opens during use and a bottom that is never completely dense. This means that the air is constantly circulating and renewed - something that is of great importance for the air quality during the sauna session.
What did we measure up?
Among other things, RISE analyzed volatile organic associations - VOCS - which is emitted during heating. They investigated how emissions change with the temperature, and compared the levels between different materials such as wall fabric and window film (TPU).
Results: Security even in the case of extreme heat
The result showed that the levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCS) were very low - even when the materials were tested at 110 ° C in a completely closed environment without ventilation. Several substances occurred in such small amounts that they could not even be measured by available methods.
This means that our materials release extremely little, even under extremely tough conditions. The emissions also decrease over time. A new one Sauna Tent Can emit more than one that has been used a few times - which is completely normal and nothing that affects safety. This is a clear sign that our Sauna Tent Is safe to use - even under heat and steam - and with a good margin against everything we could measure in the laboratory environment.
How is it against a wooden sauna?
A wooden sauna is a proven alternative - and everything else can be a good choice. But wood also releases VOCs during heating. The difference is that we have tested our materials and know exactly what they emit at high temperatures. It gives us a clear transparency and opportunity to be completely transparent.
A proof of our philosophy
We are not content to assume that something is safe - we want to know. That is why we collaborate with researchers from RISE and Luleå University of Technology to review each choice of materials and every component of our products. We do not only because it is required - but because we want to. And for you to be able to best get to best.
Conclusion
The Rise test shows that our Sauna Tent are safe - even at extreme temperatures and without ventilation. In reality, conditions are considerably milder:
- The temperature is lower at the walls
- the air is continuously translated
- The exposure is short and varied
- and the materials release less with time
