Swedish Sauna Academy - preserves of the Swedish sauna culture
The Swedish Sauna Academy is a non -profit association that has been working since 1988 to preserve and promote the Swedish sauna tradition. The Academy was founded in Jukkasjärvi, but today has its seat in Kukkolaforsen, Haparanda municipality. With the motto In sauna veritas - "In the sauna there is the truth" - they collect sauna enthusiasts from all over Sweden and the world.

The Swedish Sauna Academy spreads knowledge about the sauna's health -giving and social benefits through lectures, events and publications. One of their most famous initiatives is the National Bastud Day, which is held every year on the second Saturday in June. The day is celebrated all over the country and aims to pay attention to the cultural meaning and history of the sauna and we at bast Participates of course!
