Pack the sauna tent - how long does it take for the stove to be cooled down?

After you have been in the sauna tent, the question comes: How long does it really take for the stove to cool before you can safely pack the stove and tent? Here we go through the steps to allow the stove to be cooled down properly.Β

Step for the stove to cool and pack up safely

  1. Extinguish the fire by strangling the air supply
The first step is to extinguish the fire properly by strangling the air supply both on the stove hatch and at the chimney. This way you stop the oxygen supply and the fire goes out effectively.
  2. Take your last dip and let the fire burn out properly
Take the opportunity to take one last refreshing dip while the fire burns out completely. Allowing the fire to go naturally is a safe way to prepare the stove for cooling without having to speed up the process.Β
  3. Wait for about 20-30 minutes
Once the fire has gone out, it usually takes 20-30 minutes before you can start packing. It is important that most parts are cool before you continue to pack up. Here you can dress and pack up other accessories.Β
  4. Use heat -protecting gloves and remove the stones
When the stove has cooled enough, put on heat -protecting gloves for safe handling and remove the stones from the stove. We always put the stones in the bucket.Β
  5. Take the parts to the chimney
The next step is to disassemble the parts to the chimney. They usually cool faster than the stove itself, which makes it easy to handle them first.
  6. Pack the chimney parts in the stove
This step can be difficult the first times you have to pack up. At the bottom of the email you will find a video where Josef goes through how to do it in the best way.Β
  7. The stove can be a little hot but is ready for the bag
It's okay if the stove is still something warm when you pack it, as long as you use the bag that is adapted for safe transport.
  8. Take the help of a friend to put the stove into the bag
When everything is packed, please ask a friend for help to lift and place the stove in the bag. This ensures that both you and your equipment are handled safely and easily.

Summary

Waiting until the stove is cool is important for both safety and the stove's durability. Giving it 20-30 minutes to cool and use gloves are easy steps to make your packing smooth and safe.

Heat between the sessions

After each surf session, they gathered in our Sauna Tent. It became a place to regain warmth, rest their muscles, and talk through what they had just experienced. Maybe even reflect on why they truly chase those perfect waves.

And for us, that's exactly what the sauna is all about. Not just heat – but the rhythm of recovery, performance, and community. A place to land.

That our Sauna Tent got to be part of such a journey – together with some of the world's most dedicated surfers – is something we are incredibly proud of.

Who are they?

Freddie Meadows

is Sweden's most experienced professional surfer. After ten years on the competition scene, he chose to follow his heart and start exploring Scandinavian coastlines – with the goal of finding world-class waves in our northern waters.

Nic von Rupp

Hailing from Portugal, he is known for surfing some of the biggest waves ever at NazarΓ©. He is a multiple championship winner, documentary filmmaker, and has twice been nominated for the World Surf League's "Big Wave Performance of the Year."

Andrew Cotton

Born in the United Kingdom, he is a pioneer of Big Wave Surfing in Europe. He has towed surfing legends into record-breaking waves, gained global recognition, and pushed the boundaries of what British surfing can be – while balancing his career with life as a parent of young children.

Sauna + surf = an obvious combination

There is something special about the contrast between cold and heat, performance and stillness. The chaos of the waves meets the calm of the tent. And for those who surf in Arctic conditions, the sauna is not a luxury – it is a necessity.

Where will the next wave happen? We don’t know. And we’re not supposed to know. But one thing is certain: our Sauna Tent will be there.
