What to treat sauna wars with?
Sauna laves are the most exposed wooden surfaces in the sauna. They are exposed to high heat, moisture and often skin contact. Therefore, they need to be treated with a waterborne product that is free from solvents - such as Bastuvax. The product must be approved for high temperatures and not give off harmful vapors.
What is the best treatment for sauna wood?
The best treatment is one that protects without closing the moisture inside. Bastuvax is therefore superior to sauna panels, lichens, frames and wooden surfaces indoors. It preserves the color of the wood, prevents mold and makes the surface easier to keep clean.
Tikkurila Supi Bastuvax is a popular alternative, with several beautiful colors such as black, gray and white. For those who want a more natural look, there are also lasing versions.
What oil to sauna?
Oil -based products should be avoided in the sauna, as they are often too dense and can yellow with time in high heat. Instead, water -borne wax products, such as Satu Bastuvax or SUPI Bastuvax, are recommended. They provide a silk mat, beautiful finish and safe protection that can withstand both moisture and temperature changes.
How to use Bastuvax - step by step:
- Clean The surface thoroughly, preferably with sauna.
- Grind old or worn surfaces gently.
- Mix Wax carefully before and during application.
- Apply with brush or fungus in the direction of the wood.
- Wipe off excess - The wood should not be saturated.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours before the sauna is used.
- Vent Once during and after treatment.
The sauna vax reaches full durability after about three weeks, but the protection begins to operate immediately.
