Pack the sauna tent - how long does it take for the stove to be cooled down?

Packa ihop bastutältet - Hur länge tar det för kaminen att kylas ner?

After you have been in the sauna tent, the question comes: How long does it really take for the stove to cool before you can safely pack the stove and tent? Here we go through the steps to allow the stove to be cooled down properly.

Step for the stove to cool and pack up safely

  1. Extinguish the fire by strangling the air supply
The first step is to extinguish the fire properly by strangling the air supply both on the stove hatch and at the chimney. This way you stop the oxygen supply and the fire goes out effectively.
  2. Take your last dip and let the fire burn out properly
Take the opportunity to take one last refreshing dip while the fire burns out completely. Allowing the fire to go naturally is a safe way to prepare the stove for cooling without having to speed up the process.
  3. Wait for about 20-30 minutes
Once the fire has gone out, it usually takes 20-30 minutes before you can start packing. It is important that most parts are cool before you continue to pack up. Here you can dress and pack up other accessories.
  4. Use heat -protecting gloves and remove the stones
When the stove has cooled enough, put on heat -protecting gloves for safe handling and remove the stones from the stove. We always put the stones in the bucket.
  5. Take the parts to the chimney
The next step is to disassemble the parts to the chimney. They usually cool faster than the stove itself, which makes it easy to handle them first.
  6. Pack the chimney parts in the stove
This step can be difficult the first times you have to pack up. At the bottom of the email you will find a video where Josef goes through how to do it in the best way.
  7. The stove can be a little hot but is ready for the bag
It's okay if the stove is still something warm when you pack it, as long as you use the bag that is adapted for safe transport.
  8. Take the help of a friend to put the stove into the bag
When everything is packed, please ask a friend for help to lift and place the stove in the bag. This ensures that both you and your equipment are handled safely and easily.

Summary

Waiting until the stove is cool is important for both safety and the stove's durability. Giving it 20-30 minutes to cool and use gloves are easy steps to make your packing smooth and safe.
